  • A full range of treatment options depending on the cause of recurrent pregnancy loss

What causes recurrent pregnancy loss?

Some reasons for recurrent miscarriage include:

  • Structural anomalies of the uterus (womb)
  • Genetic problems
  • Immunological problems
  • Coagulation problems
  • Hormonal problems
  • Infections
  • Lifestyle factors

Unexplained recurrent miscarriage accounts for about 50% of recurrent pregnancy losses and is diagnosed when all detailed investigations are normal.

Try not to be alarmed by this diagnosis, it is generally a good thing.

60 to 70 percent of couples with unexplained recurrent miscarriage will have a successful outcome with their next attempt

Common investigations on both partners include:

  • Blood tests
  • Ultrasound (3-Dimensional scan)
  • Where appropriate, hysteroscopy to evaluate the uterine cavity
  • Uterine biopsy to test the uterus lining
  • Semen tests to check the quality of the sperm

Treatment for a specific cause can be initiated before or during your next pregnancy.
